CAMP OVEN COOKING IN AUSTRALIA (COCIA®)

WITH 'THE CAMP OVEN COOK' - DEREK BULLOCK

CAMPING AND FOUR WHEEL DRIVING - AGNES WATER - COURTESY OF ROZ MCKENZIE

Roz McKenzie recently went exploring at Agnes Water and visited Flat Rock, Middle Rock and Wreck Rock where she took these photos. This area is part of the Deepwater National Park.  Thank you Roz for sending them in

The photo above about five kilometres from the entrance to the Park shows distances to the three camping grounds

The entrance to Middle Rock from the main Deepwater track along with the requirement of the usual permit.
You will see a notice attached to the sign where National Parks
had put out 1080 baits for foxes.
These feral animals need to be eradicated from our National Parks as they are devastating our native fauna

A shady camp site, one of about five (not exactly sure how many) there are NO toilets or shower facilities at this spot, so it's basic camping. You will find goannas, echidnas, pretty face wallabies, grey kangaroos, as well as snakes, including the taipan, so be warned. I would add that most people panic when they see a snake, leave the poor creatures alone and they will leave you alone. 99% of bites occur when people try to kill the snake

Further into the camping area, as you can see 4WD is advised, although I've never felt the need to deflate tyres,
infact I've driven my cruiser through the park at times and not had to engage 4WD.

This is the short walking track from the camping area to the beach. It is all sand but national parks have put in steps in
some parts to make it easier for people less capable.

Again still on the track to the beach, it is barely a 4 minute walk...beware the sand can get extremely hot.
For those less adventurous be warned that huge spiders like to build a web stretching across the track

Walking onto Middle Rock Beach and looking north with nobody in sight.  You will usually have the whole place to yourself

Middle Rock is a good spot to spin up fish.  Water temp was around 25 degrees (Oct-Nov). One good point is a lack of rubbish except for flotsam and jetsam on the high tide mark. I also didn't notice any rubbish bins around, so please do the obvious and bring it home with you

Track back out of the park (any excuse to take a photo of my beloved ute).
I also like the cabbage tree palms, of which there are hundreds and the beautiful grass trees

Further along the track.  Its all beautiful country
