CAMP OVEN BLACK FOREST CREAM CHEESE POUND CAKE

I developed this recipe after seeing a similar one on IDOS.  This one has metric measurements.  It has a lot of cream cheese yet you couldnt call it a cheese cake.  Very few ingredients and simple to make:

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 250 gms philly cream cheese
  • 370 gms White Wings moist chocolate cake mix
  • 425 gm can of pitted cherries, drained
  • 1 teaspoon almond essence (optional)

METHOD

Beat the eggs, softened cream cheese and milk until smooth and creamy then mix in the cake mix and almond essence and beat until a smooth batter.  Grease a cake tin, preferrably a spring form pan and pour in half the batter.  Spread the cherries on top then pour over the rest of the batter.  Place in a preheated camp oven at 180 degrees for around 50 minutes.

All ready to go on the cooking table

HOW'S THAT FOR CAMP OVEN TUCKER

I am often asked how long heat beads last.  This is the top of the camp oven an hour after putting the heat beads on it.
There is still plenty of heat there at 180 degrees
