CAMP OVEN COOKING IN AUSTRALIA (COCIAź)

WITH 'THE CAMP OVEN COOK' - DEREK BULLOCK

THE WALK TO THE SUMMIT

It has been a dream to walk to the top of Mount Kosciuszko, the highest mountain in Australia, for many years.
I did it in 2007 and here are a few of the photos

Eighteen kilometres round trip. I didnt think I would make it

Looking from the carpark towards the Summit

Beautiful snow gums at the beginning of the walk

Snow country in summer

The track winds along at a steady increase in height

It is somewhat of a moonscape the closer you get to the Summit

Not far from the beginnings of the infamous trout stream, the Snowy River

Seamans Hut built years ago as a haven for people caught out in blizzards.  This is about halfway to the Summit

Wood stacked inside the hut ready for a warming fire

The pot belly stove to heat the hut. Matches and kindling are left for the weary

You cannot get any higher than this in Australia. Standing on top of Mount Kosciuszko
